Donald Trump, Gary Johnson Omitted From Alaska's Informational Voter Guide

Voters in Alaska trying to make an informed choice about the presidential race won’t find information about Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the state’s official election pamphlets. That’s because neither Trump’s campaign nor the Republican Party submitted any information for the guide.

Voters began receiving the pamphlets last week and some quickly noticed they were missing biographical information about Trump and his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R). Libertarians Gary Johnson and Bill Weld also were omitted.

Both the Republican and Libertarian party tickets are listed on voters’ ballots and in the pamphlet. But neither campaign submitted candidate biographies by the Aug. 30 deadline, according to a note in the pamphlet.

The other presidential candidates each have a one-page biography in the pamphlet.

Josie Bahnke, director of Alaska’s Division of Elections, said she contacted the state GOP and the Republican National Committee to ask for the Trump campaign’s contact information, but received no response.
